Your options
PrestaShop PIM options compared
You can manage PrestaShop product data in four ways. Each one fits a different catalog, team and budget.
A PrestaShop PIM is a product information management system that sits next to your shop. You write, check and translate product data in one place, and the PIM sends it to PrestaShop and your other channels. Whether you need one depends on how many products you sell, how much of the content you write yourself, and how many channels you feed.
This page is specific about what the WISEPIM connection does today. It is a content connection: it sends names, descriptions, SEO fields, prices, stock and images to PrestaShop in one language. Combinations, features, categories and translations stay in your PrestaShop back office for now.
PrestaShop's own back office
The catalog screens, attributes and features, combinations, and the CSV import under Advanced Parameters for products, combinations, brands and suppliers. Enough for a small catalog, and you already have it.
Modules from the Addons marketplace
Import, bulk edit and translation modules each solve one job inside PrestaShop. They edit the shop's data; they do not give you one checked source of product data for several channels.
A PIM with a PrestaShop connector
Several PIM vendors offer a PrestaShop connector, often through a module or a partner. Compare them in our best PIM software overview.
WISEPIM
A PIM with AI enrichment and translation built in, a free plan, and a direct PrestaShop connection for product content. Strong when your bottleneck is writing and checking product text, not managing combinations.
PrestaShop alone is often enough for a few hundred products in one language. A PIM starts to pay off when supplier data needs cleaning, when descriptions are thin or copied, or when the same products also go to marketplaces and feeds.
Common PrestaShop Product Data Challenges We Solve
Our customers face these issues every day. Here's how WISEPIM solves them.
Product Copy Is Hard to Improve in the Back Office
Do you open products one by one in the PrestaShop back office to fix names and descriptions?
Import the catalog into WISEPIM, improve names, descriptions and meta fields with AI in bulk, and export the result to PrestaShop in one run.
Stock Numbers Drift Between Systems
Do stock levels in PrestaShop lag behind the numbers you keep elsewhere?
WISEPIM writes stock quantities to PrestaShop through the stock_availables resource on every export, so the store shows the numbers you keep in WISEPIM.
Images Have to Reach the Store Too
Do you add product photos in WISEPIM and then upload them again in PrestaShop?
WISEPIM uploads product images to PrestaShop on export and remembers which ones the store already has, so only new images are sent.
Selling Beyond PrestaShop Means Retyping Data
Do you want your PrestaShop products on a marketplace or in Google Shopping too?
Keep the catalog in WISEPIM and export it to PrestaShop and to the other channels WISEPIM connects to, such as Kaufland or Google Merchant Center.
PrestaShop SEO Lives in Three Places
Have you ever fixed a meta title and forgotten the URL friendly slug, the link rewrite, or the redirect?
WISEPIM writes meta titles and meta descriptions with AI and exports them with the product. When WISEPIM creates a product, it sets the URL slug from the name; existing slugs and redirects stay as they are in PrestaShop.

Get More from Your PrestaShop Store with WISEPIM
Tools built specifically for PrestaShop merchants to make product data management easier.
Import your catalog
Bring products from PrestaShop into WISEPIM with an automation, by hand or on a schedule. It reads name, description, price, stock, weight, EAN13, meta title and meta description in your default language, and matches products by reference (SKU).
Export to PrestaShop
Push name, description, price, reference, meta fields and images to your store, plus stock through the stock_availables endpoint. Start an export yourself or schedule it with an automation; it does not run after every edit.
Auto-create new products
Turn on auto-create and export will add products that do not exist yet. New products get a slugified link_rewrite and land in the Home category by default.
Choose your source language
Set a primary locale and locale mappings to pick which language content WISEPIM sends. Export writes into the PrestaShop default language slot.
What most teams miss when integrating PrestaShop
PrestaShop has a handful of edge cases that quietly break catalog syncs. Here's what we've run into in production, and how WISEPIM handles each one.
Export sends a set list of fields
When WISEPIM exports to PrestaShop, it writes the product name, description, price, reference (SKU), meta_title, meta_description, stock quantity and images. It does not send categories, sale prices, features or combinations.
How WISEPIM handles it
Set those other fields inside PrestaShop. WISEPIM keeps the listed fields in sync on each export run.
Export updates only your default language
PrestaShop can hold text in many languages. WISEPIM writes to language ID 1, the default language, only. Your Primary Locale setting picks which PIM text is sent, but it still lands in that one default slot.
How WISEPIM handles it
Fill in any other store languages inside PrestaShop. Use WISEPIM to keep the default language up to date.
Images are exported, not imported
WISEPIM uploads product images to PrestaShop on export and skips images the store already has. Import does not bring images in, so the main image field stays empty after an import.
How WISEPIM handles it
Add images to your products in WISEPIM before you export, or upload them in WISEPIM after an import.
Variants and combinations are not synced
PrestaShop combinations (size, color, and so on), attribute groups, and product features are not sent or read by WISEPIM. A product with combinations imports as a single product without its variants.
How WISEPIM handles it
Build and edit combinations in PrestaShop. WISEPIM syncs the base product fields.
Orders are not imported
The PrestaShop connection is for product data only. WISEPIM does not pull in orders, customers, or sales figures.
How WISEPIM handles it
View orders in your PrestaShop back office. Use WISEPIM to manage and push your product catalog.
How the sync works
How the WISEPIM PrestaShop connection works
You connect with a webservice key, import your products, improve them in WISEPIM and export the content back. Nothing runs in real time.
01
Enable the webservice
In your back office, open Advanced Parameters, then Webservice, and set Enable PrestaShop's webservice to Yes. The webservice only works with URL rewriting on, which on Apache means mod_rewrite.
02
Create a key
Click Add new webservice key and generate a 32-character key. Give it view, add and modify rights on products, view and modify on stock_availables, and add on images. WISEPIM signs in with the key as the user name and an empty password.
03
Connect in WISEPIM
Enter your shop's root address, such as https://your-store.com, and paste the key. WISEPIM adds /api itself and strips it if you paste it, then runs a connection test and names the problem when the key or address is wrong.
04
Import your products
Add an Import products action for your PrestaShop store in automations and run it by hand or on a schedule. Import reads 100 products per request: name, description, reference as SKU, price, status, weight, EAN-13, meta title and meta description, in your shop's first language.
05
Enrich and export
Rewrite descriptions and SEO fields with AI, check them, then export. Export updates name, description, price, reference, meta title and meta description, sets stock, and uploads up to ten images per product.
Your pricing rules and content rules run before every export, and Quality Guard can hold back a product that fails your checks. Exports run when you start them, either from the products overview or from an automation. Auto-sync after an edit does not cover PrestaShop today.
Catalog model
Combinations, features and languages
Three PrestaShop concepts decide what a PIM connection can do. Here is how WISEPIM handles each of them today.
Combinations
PrestaShop builds variants as combinations of attributes such as size and colour, each with its own reference, price impact and stock. WISEPIM does not read or write combinations. Manage them in PrestaShop and use WISEPIM for the product's shared content.
Features
Features are fixed product facts, such as material or wattage, shown in the product sheet. WISEPIM does not import or export PrestaShop features yet. Keep specifications as WISEPIM attributes for your other channels and maintain features in the back office.
Languages
Every text field in PrestaShop has a value per language. WISEPIM reads and writes your shop's first language only. You choose which WISEPIM language goes into it, so a Dutch-first shop can receive Dutch text even when your catalog is written in English.
Field by field
What WISEPIM writes to PrestaShop
An honest list, so you know which screens you keep using in the back office.
- Updated on every export: name, description, price after your pricing rules, reference, meta title, meta description and stock quantity. Images are uploaded, up to ten per product per export.
- Set once, when WISEPIM creates a product: a friendly URL made from the name, active status, and Home as the default category. Move new products to the right category in PrestaShop afterwards.
- Not written: short description, weight, EAN, categories, brand, features and combinations. WISEPIM never deletes products or images in PrestaShop, so an image you remove in the shop is uploaded again on the next export.
- Matching: WISEPIM finds the product by its reference. If two products share a reference, it imports them separately under their PrestaShop IDs, so clean up duplicate references first.
- New products: creating missing products is on by default. Switch it off and an export of an unknown reference stops with a clear error instead.
Troubleshooting
When the PrestaShop connection fails
Most problems come from the webservice settings, not from WISEPIM. These are the ones we see most.
- Authentication failed: the key is wrong, has a space at the end, or is switched off. Open Advanced Parameters, Webservice, check that the key's status is enabled and paste it again.
- PrestaShop returned 404: the address points at the webservice instead of the shop, or the webservice is off. Enter the shop root, such as https://your-store.com, and check that URL rewriting is on.
- The test passes but an import or export fails: the test only checks that the key can open the webservice. Check the key's rights on products, stock_availables and images.
- WISEPIM cannot reach the shop: a firewall, your host or a security module blocks /api. Allow it for the webservice and test again.
- Export stops on an unknown product: product creation is off and the reference does not exist in PrestaShop. Create the product there, or switch creation on.
CSV
CSV import and export next to the connection
For everything the connection does not cover, files still do the job. Use them on purpose, not by habit.
PrestaShop's own import under Advanced Parameters handles products, combinations, brands and suppliers from CSV. It is the practical way to load combinations and features that WISEPIM does not write, and to move products into categories in bulk.
WISEPIM imports CSV and Excel files with column mapping, so supplier files and old exports land in one place. You can export products to CSV or Excel at any time, with your own column layout, and load that file with PrestaShop's importer when you need fields the direct connection does not send.
Your stack
Where ERP, DAM and PIM fit with PrestaShop
Each system owns one kind of data. Problems start when two systems both think they own the product description.
ERP: stock, cost and orders
Your ERP stays the source for purchasing, cost and finance. WISEPIM has no ready-made connector for most ERP systems; teams feed it with CSV or Excel files, the WISEPIM API or an automation with a webhook trigger. See PIM vs ERP.
DAM: images and files
WISEPIM includes digital asset management with folders, tags and versions. PrestaShop images are not imported, so upload your product photos to WISEPIM once and let the export send them to the shop.
PIM: product content
Names, descriptions and SEO fields are written and checked in the PIM. With the PrestaShop connection, this is where WISEPIM saves the most time: better text, in the right language, without copy and paste.
PrestaShop: the shop
PrestaShop runs the storefront, checkout and payments, and stays the place for combinations, features and categories until the connection covers them.
Getting started
A safe first week with PrestaShop
Your shop keeps selling while you set up WISEPIM. Nothing changes in PrestaShop until you run the first export.
01
Check your references
Give every product a unique reference. WISEPIM matches on it, and duplicates import as separate records under their PrestaShop IDs.
02
Import and fill the gaps
Run the first import from an automation, then add images, attributes and categories in WISEPIM. Supplier files and other sources come in through CSV. See PIM migration.
03
Enrich one category
Rewrite names, descriptions and meta fields for one category with AI and review the result. Set the language that should go to your shop.
04
Export and check
Export that category, check a few products in the shop, then roll out the rest. Keep combinations and features in the back office.
A project can hold more than one PrestaShop connection, but exports go to the main one only, and PrestaShop multistore is not supported. If you run several separate shops, use a WISEPIM project per shop.
Pricing
PrestaShop PIM pricing and the free plan
The PrestaShop connection is included in every WISEPIM plan, with unlimited users. There is no separate connector fee.
Plans are priced by the number of products and the monthly AI credits for writing and translating. Start on the free plan with your own PrestaShop products, then move up when your catalog grows. Each plan's product limit also caps how many products one import brings in. See all details on the pricing page.

Key PrestaShop concepts (and how they map to WISEPIM)
If you're new to the platform, or evaluating it, here are the terms that matter for product data, and what they translate to in WISEPIM.
Webservice API
PrestaShop's REST/XML API for back-office operations. Configured under Advanced Parameters → Webservice with per-resource permissions.
WISEPIM uses the Webservice for all reads and writes, with no module install and no theme patches required.
Combination
A single SKU-bearing combination of attribute values (e.g. Red + Medium). Generated by Cartesian product of attribute groups.
Combinations are not imported or exported. WISEPIM works with the base product.
Attribute (Group)
A variant-generating axis (Color, Size). Different from 'features', which are descriptive specs.
Attribute groups stay in PrestaShop. WISEPIM does not send them.
Feature
A descriptive product specification (Material, Origin) that's shown on the product page but doesn't generate variants.
Features are not sent by WISEPIM and stay as you set them in PrestaShop.
Specific Price
A pricing rule scoped to customer group, country, currency, shop, or date range, used for sales, B2B prices, and country-specific pricing.
Specific prices are not synced. WISEPIM exports the base price.
link_rewrite
The URL slug for a product or category. Combined with shop+language to form the friendly URL.
WISEPIM sets link_rewrite from the product name when it creates a product. It does not change existing slugs or create redirects.
Multistore
PrestaShop's mode that runs multiple shops on a single backend, with per-shop overrides on most catalog fields.
WISEPIM exports to one PrestaShop shop without shop_id scoping. Sending to a second shop is not supported yet.
Default Combination
The combination shown by default when a customer lands on a product page. Marked with a default flag.
WISEPIM does not set a default combination, because combinations are not synced.
