Lightspeed PIM options compared
Lightspeed is a family of products with different APIs. First check which one you run, then pick how to manage its product data.
A Lightspeed PIM is a product information management system that sits next to your Lightspeed webshop. You write, check and translate product data in one place, and the PIM sends it to Lightspeed and your other channels. WISEPIM connects to Lightspeed eCom C-Series, the webshop platform that runs on api.webshopapp.com in Europe and api.shoplightspeed.com in the US.
Lightspeed eCom E-Series is the former Ecwid; it has its own connection, see Lightspeed E-Series (Ecwid). Lightspeed Retail R-Series and X-Series are point-of-sale products with separate APIs. WISEPIM does not connect to them, so in-store POS data stays in Lightspeed Retail.

What most teams miss when integrating Lightspeed (C-Series)
Lightspeed (C-Series) has a handful of edge cases that quietly break catalog syncs. Here's what we've run into in production, and how WISEPIM handles each one.
This connects to Lightspeed eCom (C-Series) only
The name Lightspeed covers a few different products: eCom (C-Series), Retail (R-Series / POS), and X-Series. They use different APIs and are not the same. WISEPIM only works with Lightspeed eCom (C-Series).
How WISEPIM handles it
Use your Lightspeed eCom C-Series API key and secret. The API URL is api.webshopapp.com in the EU or api.shoplightspeed.com in the US. Lightspeed Retail (POS) and X-Series are not supported.
Products have no separate SEO fields
Lightspeed eCom products have a title, a long title, a short description and the content, but no meta title, meta description or meta keywords. WISEPIM sends your SEO title as the long title and your meta description as the short description when that one is empty. Meta keywords are not sent. The long title and the short description stop at 255 characters.
How WISEPIM handles it
Keep the SEO title and short description under 255 characters, and use the long title as your search title in Lightspeed.
Price and stock are saved on the variant, not the product
In Lightspeed eCom, price and stock live on the variant record. Every product has at least one variant. WISEPIM pushes priceIncl and stockLevel to the matching variant, not to the product body.
How WISEPIM handles it
This is normal for Lightspeed eCom. If a price or stock number looks missing on the product, check the variant. WISEPIM pushes stock to the webshop only; it does not connect to a Lightspeed Retail POS.
Exports also update category and filter assignments
Product exports reconcile categories and filter values on existing products as well as new products. Removing an assignment in WISEPIM can remove its Lightspeed link. Incomplete category mappings or failed additions block removal of existing links.
How WISEPIM handles it
Import the destination categories and review their mappings before exporting. For a shop migration, export the filter definitions first, then test one product and inspect its categories and filter values in Lightspeed.
Export skips products it cannot match unless auto-create is on
On export, WISEPIM finds the product by its stored Lightspeed ID, then by SKU or EAN. If it finds no match and the auto-create toggle is off, that product is skipped instead of created. The toggle is on by default.
How WISEPIM handles it
Leave the auto-create toggle on if you want WISEPIM to create new products in Lightspeed. Turn it off if you only want to update products that already exist.
How the sync works
How the WISEPIM Lightspeed sync works
You connect with an API key once, then run imports and exports when you choose: by hand, from an automation, or with auto-sync after an edit. The sync is not real time.

Create an API key in Lightspeed
In your eCom back office, open Settings, then Store settings, then Developers, and create a new API key. Switch it on, tick the permissions WISEPIM needs and click Show to reveal the secret. Read and write access to products, variants, categories, brands, suppliers, filters and specifications covers a full sync; add orders to see sales in WISEPIM.

Connect in WISEPIM
Paste the API key and secret and enter the API URL with your main language, such as https://api.webshopapp.com/en/ for an EU shop or https://api.shoplightspeed.com/en/ for a US shop. Without a language in the URL, WISEPIM assumes Dutch. The connection test reads your account and shows the shop name.

Import your catalog
Import reads 250 products per request: title, long title, short and long description, price, cost, stock, SKU or article code, EAN, weight, visibility, brand, supplier and every image. Categories, filters, specifications and related products come along, and variants arrive as child products.

Enrich and translate
Fill empty fields, rewrite descriptions and translate them with AI, then check the results before anything goes live. See AI product enrichment and AI translation.

Export to Lightspeed
Export writes titles, long titles, descriptions, brand and supplier, variant SKU, EAN, price, cost, weight and stock, images, filters, specifications and related products, in each shop language you map. Products that are not in the shop yet are created there.
Run imports and exports by hand or schedule them with automations. Turn on auto-sync and WISEPIM pushes an edited product about 30 seconds after you save it. Lightspeed orders sync into WISEPIM analytics every six hours on paid plans, up to two years back. When Lightspeed answers that WISEPIM is going too fast, WISEPIM waits and tries again with a growing pause, so a long import finishes instead of failing.

Variants, filters and specifications
Lightspeed eCom has its own way of storing product data. These are the parts that decide how a PIM connection behaves.
Every product has variants
In Lightspeed a product always has at least one variant, and SKU, EAN, article code, price and stock live on the variant. WISEPIM imports variants as child products and writes them back under their product. Lightspeed allows up to 100 variants per product.
Titles and descriptions
Lightspeed has a title, a long title and two descriptions. WISEPIM keeps all four, in every shop language. Lightspeed has no separate meta fields, so the long title and the short description double as SEO title and meta description. Export cuts the short description at 255 characters.
Filters and specifications
Filters drive faceted navigation; specifications come from a product's type. WISEPIM imports both per language and writes them back. It fills specifications only for products that already have a type in Lightspeed, because the API cannot assign one.
Field by field
What WISEPIM writes, and what it leaves alone
Some Lightspeed settings belong to the shop, not to the product content. WISEPIM writes them once and then leaves them to you.
- On every export: title, long title, content, short description, brand and supplier (matched by name), the extra fields data01 to data03, filters, specifications, related products and images. Images are uploaded to the product gallery without creating duplicates on the next run.
- Only when WISEPIM creates a product: article code, visibility, option set and stock tracking. After that, WISEPIM does not overwrite the settings you change in Lightspeed.
- Categories: export links a product to categories that already exist in Lightspeed. Create new categories with the separate category export first; a category WISEPIM cannot find is skipped instead of guessed.
- Variants: each variant's SKU, EAN, price, cost, weight and stock go to the matching Lightspeed variant. Variant settings you manage in Lightspeed, such as the compare-at price, stock alert and minimum and maximum order quantity, keep their values, and so do your own variant titles.
- Matching: WISEPIM remembers each product's Lightspeed ID. If it has none, it looks the product up by SKU or EAN before it creates a new one.
- Removed products: after a full import, products that are gone from your shop are set to inactive in WISEPIM. A filtered import never does this.
CSV
CSV and Excel next to the sync
Spreadsheets do not disappear when you add a PIM. They become an input, not the place where your data lives.
Supplier price lists, purchase files and one-off corrections still arrive as spreadsheets. WISEPIM imports CSV and Excel files with column mapping and matches rows to your Lightspeed products by SKU, so a supplier file updates the same records the sync writes.
You can export products to CSV or Excel at any time, with a ready-made Lightspeed column layout, for a backup, an agency or a marketplace that wants a file. Use files for bulk input, and the direct connection to keep the webshop current.

Where POS, ERP, DAM and PIM fit with Lightspeed
Each system owns one kind of data. Problems start when two systems both think they own the product description.
POS and ERP: stock, cost and orders
Your POS or ERP stays the source for purchasing, cost and in-store sales. WISEPIM does not connect to Lightspeed Retail or most ERP systems; teams feed it with CSV or Excel files, the WISEPIM API or an automation with a webhook trigger. See PIM vs ERP.
DAM: images and files
WISEPIM includes digital asset management with folders, tags, versions and links between assets and products, so product photos sit next to the data they belong to. See PIM vs DAM.
PIM: product content
Titles, descriptions, filters, specifications and translations live in the PIM. It is the one place where product data is written and checked, with Quality Guard rules that can hold back an incomplete product.
Lightspeed eCom: the webshop
Lightspeed shows the product, takes the order and runs checkout and payments. It receives product content from the PIM instead of being edited by hand in the back office.

Your Lightspeed webshop keeps selling while you set up the PIM. Nothing changes in the shop until you run the first export.

Start from Lightspeed
Import your current shop first, in every language. It becomes the baseline, so you can see which titles, filters and translations are missing or inconsistent.

Clean up and enrich
Set up attributes and categories, fill gaps with AI, translate the missing languages, and fix the issues Quality Guard reports.

Export in batches
Send one category or brand first and check it in your shop. If Quality Guard stops every product in a run, the run ends as completed with errors, so an export that sent nothing never looks green.
A first import of a large shop takes time. Lightspeed allows 300 API requests every five minutes, 3,000 per hour and 12,000 per day. WISEPIM reads 250 products per request, the most Lightspeed returns at once, and pauses when Lightspeed says it is going too fast.

Lightspeed PIM pricing and the free plan
The Lightspeed connection is included in every WISEPIM plan, with unlimited users. There is no separate connector fee.
Plans are priced by the number of products and the monthly AI credits for writing and translating. Start on the free plan with your own Lightspeed products, then move up when your catalog grows. Key Lightspeed (C-Series) concepts (and how they map to WISEPIM)
If you're new to the platform, or evaluating it, here are the terms that matter for product data, and what they translate to in WISEPIM.
Lightspeed Retail (R-Series)
Lightspeed's POS system for retail stores, formerly Lightspeed Retail / Lightspeed POS.
Not supported. WISEPIM does not connect to Lightspeed Retail, so POS products, inventory and categories stay there.
Lightspeed eCom (C-Series)
Lightspeed's classic ecommerce platform, formerly SEOshop / eCom.
WISEPIM connects via eCom's REST API for products, variants, categories, filters, specifications and orders.
Lightspeed eCom (E-Series)
Lightspeed's other webshop platform, the former Ecwid, with its own API.
E-Series uses the separate Ecwid connection in WISEPIM, not this one.
Lightspeed X-Series
Lightspeed's modern POS, formerly Vend. Different data model from R-Series.
Not supported. WISEPIM does not connect to X-Series.
Variant
Every Lightspeed eCom product has at least one variant. SKU, EAN, article code, price and stock live on the variant, up to 100 variants per product.
WISEPIM imports variants as child products and writes SKU, EAN, price, cost, weight and stock back to the matching variant.
Filters and Specifications
Filters drive the webshop's faceted navigation. Specifications come from a product's type and show as a spec table.
WISEPIM imports and exports both per language, and fills specifications only for products that already have a type in Lightspeed.
Long Title (fulltitle)
A second, longer product title that Lightspeed eCom uses as the page and search title.
WISEPIM keeps the long title per language and fills it from your SEO title when you have no long title.
Multi-Location
Multiple physical stores under one Lightspeed Retail account, each with its own inventory and pricing options.
Not supported. Per-location stock and prices belong to Lightspeed Retail, which WISEPIM does not connect to.
