Shopify product description prompt that returns clean HTML
Shopify stores the product description as HTML, and most themes already print the product title as the page heading. This prompt returns a description in the small set of tags the description field handles well, so you can paste the output straight into Shopify without fixing the markup.
The prompt
You are writing the product description field (body HTML) of a Shopify product page.
Product: {product_name}
Vendor: {brand}
Product type: {product_type}
Variants: {variants}
Facts (use only these): {specifications}
Primary keyword: {keyword}
Return valid HTML that the Shopify description field accepts, using only <p>, <h3>, <ul>, <li> and <strong>. No inline styles, no <h1> (the theme already shows the product title as h1), no images and no links.
Structure:
<p> One or two sentences on the main benefit, with the keyword once.</p>
<h3>Why you will like it</h3>
<ul> Three to five bullets. Each bullet starts with a <strong>short label</strong> followed by the benefit.</ul>
<h3>Details</h3>
<ul> Material, dimensions, care and what is in the box, only when the facts include them.</ul>
<p> One sentence that helps the buyer choose the right variant from {variants}.</p>
Keep it under {word_count} words. Do not mention prices, discounts, shipping times or stock levels: Shopify shows those elsewhere and they change.Variables to fill in
{product_name}- The Shopify product title.
{brand}- The Vendor field in Shopify.
{product_type}- The Product type field, for example Backpack.
{variants}- Option names and values, for example Color: black, sand; Size: 20 L, 28 L.
{specifications}- Facts from your product data or supplier sheet.
{keyword}- The search term the product page should rank for.
{word_count}- Upper limit for the text. 150 to 250 words suits most themes.
Example output

<p>The Fjellby Daypack is an everyday backpack that keeps your laptop, bottle and the rest of your day organized, in a water-repellent shell made from recycled polyester.</p> <h3>Why you will like it</h3> <ul> <li><strong>Laptop protection:</strong> a padded sleeve holds laptops up to 15 inches.</li> <li><strong>Bottle within reach:</strong> two side pockets keep drinks upright and easy to grab.</li> <li><strong>Light showers covered:</strong> the water-repellent coating keeps light rain off your things.</li> </ul> <h3>Details</h3> <ul> <li>Material: recycled polyester 600D</li> <li>Weight: 640 g (20 L)</li> </ul> <p>Choose 20 L for a laptop and a lunch, or 28 L when you also carry gym clothes.</p>

Tips for better results
- Paste the output in the HTML view of the Shopify editor (the <> button), not the visual editor, so the tags are kept as written.
- Leave prices, discounts and stock out of the description. Shopify shows them in their own fields and they would go stale here.
- If your theme shows product tabs or accordions, ask for one <h3> per tab and check how the theme splits the content.
- For collections with many near-identical products, change {keyword} and the variant sentence per product so pages do not duplicate each other.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the prompt ask for HTML instead of plain text?
The Shopify description field is HTML. Plain text loses its headings and bullets, while unrestricted HTML from a chat model often brings inline styles or an extra h1 that clash with the theme.
Can I use the same prompt for Shopify SEO meta descriptions?
No, write those separately. The meta description has a much shorter limit. Use one of the SEO meta templates in the library for that field.
How do I run it on my whole Shopify catalog?
Connect your store to WISEPIM, run the prompt on a selection of products and send the approved descriptions back to Shopify through the connection.
