Product variant management

Product variant management One parent, every size and color

Keep every size and color under one configurable parent. Your table shows one row per product, each variant keeps its own SKU, price, stock and photo, and Shopify gets one listing with options once the product family has its variant axes.

  • Up to 500 products per run
  • Shopify options on one product
  • WooCommerce variations both ways

Key features

  • Group what arrived flat

Attach up to 500 look-alike products to one parent in a single bulk action, or let a Catalog Job find the groups.

  • Fill each variant

Give every variant its own photo and market price, from the parent, your old store or web research.

  • Publish one listing

Send a parent to WooCommerce as a variable product, or to Shopify as one product with options once its family has variant axes.

Why it matters

Fewer rows, cleaner listings, exact stock

Supplier files and old exports list every size as its own product. Grouping them fixes the catalog, the storefront and the feeds in one go.

  • One product page per model

Shoppers pick a size or color on one page instead of scrolling past ten near-identical listings.

  • Stock stays exact per size

Each variant keeps its own SKU, barcode, price and stock, so what sells and what runs out is tracked per size.

  • Research once per product

Select a parent with its variants and web research runs once on the parent, so you pay for one product, not every size.

  • A table you can read

The products table shows one row per parent with its variant count. Expand it when you need the sizes.

How it works

From flat rows to one listing

Four steps, and the first two often happen during the import.

  1. 01

    Bring your products in

Import from WooCommerce with variations as child products, or from Shopify once you switch on Import variants as child products for the store. A CSV import links rows through your parent column. Lightspeed, Magento and CCV Shop also bring the parent link, but check the option values after the import.

Variants arrive under their parent, not as loose rows.

  2. 02

    Group what arrived flat

Pick a parent with the Group as variants bulk action, or run the Turn look-alikes into variants job and review the groups it finds.

    One configurable product per model.

  3. 03

    Fill each variant

Link a photo from the parent, get each variant's own photo from your old store, and research a market price per variant.

Every variant can be sold on its own.

  4. 04

    Publish one listing

Mark the variant axes, like Size and Color, on the product family and switch on Export variants as options for your Shopify store. A parent then goes to Shopify as one product with options, or to WooCommerce as a variable product with its variations.

Shoppers choose a size on one product page.

Group as variants

Twenty rows become one product

Select the sizes and colors on the page, pick the parent and apply. WISEPIM attaches up to 500 products in one run and tells you which ones it skipped.

  • Any product can become the parent

Configurable products show first. Switch to all products and a simple parent becomes configurable, with a warning before you apply.

  • Built not to surprise you

The action only works on products you select on the page, never on every filtered product. Products that already belong to another parent are skipped, not moved.

  • Detach whenever you need

Clear the Parent product field on a variant, or remove the link from the parent's Relations tab. The product stays and stands on its own again.

Group as variants: the selected products become children of the parent you pick.

Catalog Jobs, beta

Let WISEPIM find the look-alikes

The Turn look-alikes into variants job scans your catalog for products that are one model in several colors or sizes. Every group waits in your review queue before anything changes.

  • Groups by name or SKU

Same name, the same start of the SKU, or let WISEPIM pick. Groups never mix brands or categories, and a price tolerance keeps odd ones out.

  • AI checks every match

For each product in a group, AI answers one question: is this the same model? A missing option, like the color, can be read from the photo.

  • You approve each group

Each group shows why its products belong together. Untick one that is a different model and approve the rest.

  • Undo without losing anything

Undo detaches the products and archives each new parent that has not been sent to a shop yet. In WooCommerce you can also merge the old pages: they become drafts and you get a redirects file.

Every proposed group waits in your review queue, with its products and how sure the AI is.

On your channels

  • Shopify

One product with up to three options, like Size and Color, and up to 100 variants.

Both are store settings and stay off until you switch them on. Options come from the variant axes on the product's family, so mark those before you publish. Each variant sends its own price, SKU, barcode, stock and photo, and an old standalone product is archived, not deleted.

  • Lightspeed C-Series

Products with several variants come in as one parent.

On import, the first variant's SKU, price and stock sit on the parent, so that variant has no child product of its own. The export sends SKU, EAN, price, cost, weight and stock per variant, and missing variants are added. Option sets are never created or changed, so set them up in Lightspeed first.

Who it is for

Built for catalogs that come in sizes

Variants pay off wherever one model sells in several versions.

  • Fashion and footwear

Every style in five sizes and three colors is fifteen rows in a supplier file. As variants it is one product with a size and a color picker.

Result: one product page per style.

  • Electronics and accessories

A phone case in six colors or a drive in four capacities shares one description, while price, stock and photo differ per version.

Result: the right price and photo per version.

  • Shops moving platforms

Old exports and flat imports lose the parent link. Group them once in WISEPIM, mark the variant axes on the family, and the next export to Shopify or WooCommerce carries the structure.

Result: a clean structure on the new store from day one.

    • Prices per variant

Price research returns a market range and a recommended price for each variant.

  • Imports, feeds and checks

Variants in and out without a connector, and kept complete.

    • CSV with a parent column

Link each row to its parent through an identifier column during the import.

    • CSV without a parent column

Group rows with the same name, or SKUs that differ in one part, into one product.

    • After every import

An automation template groups new look-alikes into variants after each import. Business plan and up.

    • Google Merchant Center

Variants carry the parent SKU as their item group ID.

    • Schema.org product feed

A parent goes out as a ProductGroup with its variants listed under hasVariant.

    • Quality checks

Quality Guard rules check that every variant has its own image. Business plan and up.

A variant is a product that hangs under a configurable parent, such as one size or color of the same shirt. Each variant keeps its own SKU, barcode, price, stock and photo. The products table shows the parent as one row with a variant count, and you expand it to see the variants.

A product family defines the fields of a product type and marks which attributes, like Size and Color, tell variants apart. Variants are the link between real products: this parent, with these sizes underneath. You use both together: the family sets the options, and the variants carry the values.

During a CSV import, link rows to a parent column or group rows by name or SKU. After an import, select the products on the page and run Group as variants with up to 500 products at a time, or run the Turn look-alikes into variants Catalog Job and review the groups it finds.

Yes, once you switch on Export variants as options for the store and mark the variant axes, like Size and Color, on the product's family. A parent then becomes one Shopify product with up to three options from those axes and up to 100 variants. Groups you make with a CSV import, Group as variants or a Catalog Job do not set the axes for you, so check the family before you publish. Each variant sends its own price, SKU, barcode, stock and photo. A variant that was exported on its own before has that old product archived in Shopify, not deleted.

Shopify, both ways once you switch on the two store settings, which are off by default. WooCommerce, as variable products with variations, both ways. Lightspeed C-Series imports variants as children, except the first variant, whose data sits on the parent, and its export updates them and adds missing ones within your existing option sets. Magento 2 and CCV Shop import children under their parent, but check the option values: Magento sends option IDs instead of labels, and CCV Shop keeps one value per option. PrestaShop combinations are not read or written.

Yes. Link one of the parent's photos, get each variant's photo from your old store, or let web research find a photo by barcode, SKU or color. Price research returns a market price per variant when the variants differ on one option, like color or size. Web research comes with every paid plan, from Starter up.

Deleting a configurable parent also deletes its variants, so detach them first if you want to keep them. Detaching a variant never deletes it: clear its Parent product field or remove the link on the parent. Undo in the Catalog Job detaches the products and archives each parent it created, as long as that parent has not been sent to a shop yet.

Yes. Every variant is a product, so it counts toward your plan's product limit, and each new parent a Catalog Job creates uses one product as well. The grouping tools themselves are included on every plan. The import automation and Quality Guard rules come with the Business plan and up.
