Merchant Center issue
Fix a Misrepresentation suspension in Merchant Center
Misrepresentation is one of the hardest Merchant Center issues to clear, because it is about trust in your business rather than one wrong value in your feed. It often arrives as an account suspension with little detail. This page sets out what Google's policy covers, how enforcement works, what to check on your website and in your product data, and how the review works. Nobody can promise reinstatement; the work is making your site and data clearly honest and complete.

Short answer
Read the Misrepresentation policy and check your site against it: real business name and contact details, clear shipping, return and privacy policies, the full price including fees, and no claims you can't back up. Make sure prices and availability on your site match Merchant Center. Remove or fix any violating products, then request a review. You get one chance to disagree, so fix everything first.

What this issue means
Google's Misrepresentation policy forbids listings and destinations that deceive shoppers by leaving out relevant information or giving misleading details about products or the business. It groups violations into unacceptable business practices (such as false identity or contact details, impersonating brands, taking payment without delivering or hiding where items ship from), coordinated deceptive practices, dishonest pricing and transaction conditions (such as hiding the full price, fees or recurring costs, or concealing delivery delays and refund limits), unavailable offers, manipulated media and unreliable claims, such as miracle cures.
Enforcement depends on the category. For egregious violations, which include unacceptable business practices, coordinated deceptive practices and dishonest pricing, Google can suspend the account immediately without warning. For unavailable offers, manipulated media and unreliable claims, you get a warning at least 7 days before a suspension. Most other violations get a warning of 7 or 28 days.
Google's Building trust with your customers page lists what a trustworthy store shows: a consistent business identity, an about page, clear policies, contact details, secure checkout and a working site. Use it as your checklist.

Common causes
- The business name, domain and contact details don't match or are hard to find.
- Shipping, return or privacy policies are missing, vague or hard to reach.
- The full price, extra fees or recurring costs only appear late in checkout.
- Shipping origin or delivery times are unclear or misleading.
- Product content makes claims you can't support, such as health or "guaranteed" results.
- Prices or availability on the site don't match Merchant Center, or the site has placeholder text, broken links or unnecessary redirects.
How to fix it, step by step
Most of this work happens on your website and in your business information, not in Merchant Center. Fix everything you can find before you ask for a review, because your chances to disagree are limited.
- Read Google's Shopping ads and free listings policies, especially the Misrepresentation policy, and note which categories could apply to you.
- Check your business identity: the registered business name and domain should match, and an about page, contact details and social links should be easy to find.
- Make your shipping, return and privacy policies clear and reachable from every page, and explain how your business works.
- Show the full price, all fees and any recurring costs before checkout, and state delivery times and where items ship from honestly.
- Remove claims you can't support from product pages and product data, and remove placeholder text, placeholder images and broken links.
- Make sure prices and availability on your site match Merchant Center, and remove or edit any products that break the policy.
- Request a review or appeal from Merchant Center. Use a bulk appeal only where Google offers it, and remove all violating offers first, because failed bulk appeals can limit future appeals.
- Wait for the result. Account reviews typically take 7 business days.

How to prevent it
- Keep your business name, domain and contact details consistent everywhere, including Merchant Center.
- Review your policies and checkout whenever you add fees, subscriptions or new shipping origins.
- Write product content without claims you can't back up.
- Keep prices and availability on your site and in Merchant Center coming from the same source.
- Fix warnings within their deadline instead of waiting for a suspension.
How WISEPIM helps
Most of a Misrepresentation fix is website and business work that WISEPIM can't do for you: it does not change website policies, business details or checkout, and it does not request reviews or appeals.
Where it does help is product data. With WISEPIM as the single source for title, price and availability, your store and the Merchant Center connection get the same values. The connection's daily check compares title, price and availability with what WISEPIM would send and stores the item issues Google reports, so you spot drift early. The catalog job "Get ready for Google and Meta ads" flags medical or "guaranteed" style claims in product content, which relates to the unreliable claims category.
