Pricing guide 2026
PIM pricing: what a PIM system really costs
How much does a PIM cost? Anything from nothing to six figures a year, depending on how the vendor prices, how big your catalog is and who does the implementation. This guide explains the pricing models, the costs that are not on the price list, and the prices vendors actually publish, so you can build a realistic budget before the first demo.

Short answer
PIM software is priced by product count, by users, by add-ons and connectors, as a flat platform license, or by quote. Published prices in October 2026 range from free plans (WISEPIM up to 100 products, Plytix at 100 SKUs) through €299 a month for WISEPIM Starter and $9,900 a year for Pimcore Professional, to $36,000 a year for Pimberly. Salsify, inriver and Stibo Systems quote on request. Add implementation, data migration, connectors and training on top.

How PIM vendors charge
Most PIM price lists combine two or three of the models below. The model matters as much as the amount: it decides what happens to your bill when the catalog doubles, when you add a market or when a new colleague needs a login.
| Model | How it works | Examples | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per product or SKU tier | The plan price follows how many products you manage | WISEPIM, Plytix, Pimberly | Variants may count as separate SKUs; check the tier you reach in three years |
| Per user | Plans include a number of seats, and extra users cost more | Pimberly plans include a set number of users | Read-only colleagues, agencies and suppliers can push you into a higher plan |
| Add-ons and connectors | Channels, AI, feeds or portals are priced on top of the plan | Plytix add-ons, Akeneo's paid add-ons | The plan price alone understates the real cost |
| Flat platform license | One yearly fee, no limit on products or users | Pimcore Professional and Enterprise | Development, hosting and upgrades are on you or a partner |
| Quote only | The price follows a demo and a proposal | Salsify, inriver, Stibo Systems | Ask for first-year and three-year totals including services |
| Open source | No license fee for the community edition | Akeneo CE, Pimcore CE, AtroPIM, UnoPim | You pay for servers, developers, security and upgrades |

PIM cost by company size
The table groups the published prices above by catalog size. It is not a market survey: every figure is a list price from the vendor pages linked in this guide, and the last column lists what comes on top. Your own quote will depend on users, channels, languages and services.
| Company size | Typical catalog | Published options | Costs on top |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting webshop | Up to a few hundred products | Free plans: WISEPIM up to 100 products, Plytix at 100 SKUs; open source with no license fee | Your own setup time; hosting if you self-host |
| Small business | Around 1,000 products | WISEPIM Starter at €299 a month billed yearly; Plytix paid SKU tiers | Add-ons, extra languages, a few days of setup |
| Mid-size | 5,000 to 20,000 products | WISEPIM Growth to Scale at €499 to €999 a month billed yearly; Pimcore Professional at $9,900 a year | Connectors, migration, partner or developer time for Pimcore |
| Large | 50,000 products or more | Pimberly from $36,000 a year; Pimcore Enterprise at $29,900 a year; Salsify median $52,100 a year (Vendr); Akeneo, inriver and WISEPIM Enterprise on quote | Implementation partner, integrations, training |
| Global enterprise | Several domains and regions | Stibo Systems, inriver and Salsify on quote | A multi-month program with a systems integrator |
Open source PIM: the real cost
An open source PIM has no license fee, which makes it look like the cheapest option. The cost moves elsewhere: servers, backups, security updates, version upgrades and the developers who build connectors and fix things when they break. Pimcore's Community Edition now also carries a revenue limit: its license allows free production use below €5M in revenue.
Open source fits when you already have developers and want full control over the data model. If you do not, compare the yearly cost of a developer's time with a SaaS plan before you decide. Open source PIM compares the five open source options in detail.
How to budget for a PIM
A PIM budget holds up when it starts from your catalog, not from a price list. Work through these steps, then compare vendors on the same three-year total. The PIM ROI calculator helps you put the time savings next to the cost, and the best PIM software guide shows who each vendor suits.
- Count your products and variants today and estimate the number in three years
- List every channel and system the PIM must connect to, and check which connectors are included
- Decide who writes and translates content, and price that work in or out of the PIM
- Ask each vendor for a first-year total and a three-year total, with services as separate lines
- Run a trial with a few hundred of your own products before you sign
